

Roger was born in Decatur, the son of Frederick Keith and Janet Lou Rogers Moore. He married Penny Bernotas in 1984 in Reno, NV.
Roger was a Southeast High School graduate and proud member of the “Top Boy Gang.” He completed training at the IL State Police Academy. For 23 years, he worked for the Springfield Park Police and retired as a Lieutenant in 2000. Roger could be described as the life of the party and an avid outdoorsman. He dedicated many years working at the Yamaha motorcycle shop and loved to ride motorcycles, four wheelers and scooters. Roger was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He collected antiques and motorcycle memorabilia. He was always up for attending an auction and would never turn down a dessert.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 37 years, Penny Moore of Springfield; two daughters, Halley (Adam) Walter of Riverton and Hannah (Jason Eccleston) Moore of Springfield; four grandchildren, Haleigh, Sylias, Hayley and Parker; beloved dog, Teddy; two siblings, David Moore and Penny Jo (Brian) Smith, both of Peoria; one aunt; one uncle; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Cremation will be provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies.
Memorial Gathering: 4:30 until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, April 30, 2021 at Butler Funeral Home-Springfield, 900 S. Sixth St., Springfield. Due to COVID restrictions there will be limited capacity.
