

Ruth Anna Ella Barto, 86, of Springfield, passed away at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday, January 29, 2019 at St. Johns Hospital. Ruth was born on January 23, 1933 in Okawville, IL, the daughter of Carl and Edna Krone Hemminghaus. She married Arthur Eugene Barto on November 11, 1956 in Modesto, IL. Ruth was a 1950 graduate of Northwestern Palmyra High School. She was employed in banking for 40 years. Ruth enjoyed crocheting, traveling, and belonging to the Bunco Club. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Linda Coons; parents; and sister, Lucille Mansfield. She is survived by her husband, Art Barto of Springfield; one son, Douglas (wife, Joetta) Barto of Winnemucca, NV; one daughter, Patty A. Barto of Springfield; four grandchildren, Luke Barto of Alaska, Evan Barto of Nevada, Jessie Barto of Nevada, and Dustin Coons of Springfield; four great-grandchildren, Brynn, Jace, Marshall, and Wade; one sister, Eunice "Nonnie" Hettenhausen of Okawville, IL; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral Ceremony and Visitation: A Funeral Ceremony will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 17, 2019 at Butler Funeral Home - Springfield, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield with Celebrant Judy Woerner officiating. Family will receive friends immediately following the ceremony until 4:30 p.m. Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, February 18, 2019 at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
