

Ruth E. Baker, 85, of Springfield, died at 1:45 p.m. on Friday, June 16, 2006 at Senior Living. Ruth was born July 16, 1920 in Clayton, IL the daughter of Charles Orie and Erma Adeline Stahl Campbell. She married William Roger Baker in Paris, MO in 1942; he preceded her in death. Mrs. Baker was a secretary for the Illinois State Police. She belonged to Laurel Street Methodist Church in Springfield and volunteered at Kumler United Methodist Church. Ruth was a very kind lady who placed others first and herself second. Her love for her family was deep. She had a passion for horses that came from her early years on her family’s farm. She was also preceded in death by her parents and six siblings. She is survived by two sons: Stan Baker and Steven (wife, Joan) Baker both of Springfield; four grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and one sister: Elizabeth DeMoss of Macomb, IL. Private Graveside Services will be held at South Side Cemetery in Clayton, IL. Memorial contributions may be made to: St. John's Hospital, Hospice Program, 800 E.
