Ruth M. Bess

Ruth M. Bess, 89, of New Berlin, passed away at 10:50 a.m. on Monday, July 10, 2017 at her residence. Ruth was born on March 26, 1928 in Berlin, the daughter of Joseph and Opal Mae Clayton Sheppard. She married Norman Bess on March 11, 1989 in Waverly. Ruth was a caring and loving person who enjoyed spending time with her family and caring for others. In her spare time, she would garden flowers, fruits and veggies, as well as travel to Branson, MO. She was preceded in death by her sons, Theodore "Ted" and Robert "Bob" Sheppard; her parents; and siblings, Joey, Art, Bill, Frank, Irene, and Midge. She is survived by her husband, Norman of New Berlin; one son, Charles Kissick of Waverly; one daughter, Frances (husband, Norman) Casson of New Berlin; eight grandchildren, Norman (wife, Olivia) Casson, Jr. of New Berlin, Kelly (Eric Culbertson) Kissick of Waverly, Kathy Jo (husband, Robbie) Poole of Franklin, Terry (wife, Sabrina) Kissick of Waverly, Kelsey Rae Hearin of Palmyra, Rick "Bubba" Schlemm of Loami, Kasie (Tim Hughes) Schlemm of Jacksonville, and Jared Knezevich of Indianapolis, IN; great-grandchildren, Jessica, Aubrey, Jon, Braydon, Ashlynn, Tyler, Kylee, Logan, Kyle, Allison and Gracie; great-great-grandchildren, Clayton and Isabella (on the way); eight siblings, George "Lefty", Dave, Gary, and Bob Sheppard, Nancy Blankenship, Barb Barker, Mary Lou Hagaman and Shirley Lomilino; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Graveside Ceremony: 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at Woodwreath Cemetery, New Berlin with Rev. Warren Brosi officiating.
