

Ruth was born August 6, 1927 in Springfield, the daughter of Roscoe Albert and Thulla Stella Thomas Niccolls. She married Joseph L. Hashman Jr. on November 16, 1946 at Blessed Sacrament in Springfield; he preceded her in death on August 22, 1994.
Ruth graduated from Springfield High School and went on to work at Cozy Dog Drive In where she worked for just over 20 years. She was employed with JC Penney's for 15 years. She was a former Brownie leader and a member of the Home Extension Quilting Club. Ruth enjoyed crafts, quilting, sewing, shopping, and flower gardening, especially poppies and daisies.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; son, Greg Hashman; two sisters, Helen Nickols and Margie Womack; and brother, Harry Lee Niccolls.
She is survived by her son, Rodney (wife, Judy) Hashman Sr. of Springfield; daughters, Trudy Jo Abner and Joy (husband, Kenny) Mendenhall, both of Springfield; daughter-in-law, Joyce Hashman of Springfield; nine grandchildren, Dawn (husband, James) Foster, Bill Abner Jr, Marcia Abner, Bobby Abner, Rodney (wife, Melanie) Hashman, Jr., Sherry Thien, Donna (husband, Bobby) Podshadley, Debbie Hashman, and Katie (husband, Zack) Wilson; eleven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild on the way; siblings, Ed (wife, Bonnie) Niccolls of Sherman, Sylvia (husband, Ed) Schmidt of Bloomington, MN, and Linda (husband, Carl) Raddatz of Louisville, KY; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield.
Funeral Ceremony: 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home with Celebrant Judy Woerner officiating.
Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
