Ruth Morrison

Ruth "Elaine" Morrison, 82, of Springfield, formerly of Keokuk, IA, died at 6:01 p.m. on Sunday, December 19, 2010 at Memorial Medical Center. Elaine was born June 29, 1928 in Keokuk, IA, the daughter of Floyd and Lois Neeves Wells. She first married John Scovern, the father of her two children. She later married Raymond Morrison and he preceded her in death in 1996. Elaine was a homemaker who was very loving and devoted to her husband and children. She enjoyed, crocheting, sewing, knitting, and attending craft fairs. Her greatest accomplishment in life was raising her family and she will be dearly missed. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two children, Connie Davis and Kevin Morrison; and a sister, Fern Everman. She is survived by two sons, Jerry (wife, Linda) Scovern of Belmont, NC and Terry (wife, Tanya) Scovern of Springfield; eleven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; one uncle; two nephews; and several cousins. Family will receive friends from 9:30-10:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 23, 2010 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Graveside ceremonies will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 23, 2010 at Camp Butler National Cemetery. There will be a procession from the funeral home to the cemetery for those who wish to join and will depart at 10:40 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Protective League, 1001 Taintor Rd., Springfield, IL 62702-1766.
