

Ruth Virginia Morrison, 85, of rural New Berlin, IL went to her heavenly home at 8:40 p.m. on January 31, 2016 at Reflections Memory Care. Ruth was born November 23, 1930 to Florence (Basse) and Albert Komnick on the farm in New Berlin, IL. Ruth was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ. Ruth graduated from New Berlin High School in 1948 and Illinois State University in December 1951. She married Paul when he was home on leave from the Air Force. Their first home was on Ramey Air Force Base in Puerto Rico and then MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa Florida. In 1954, they settled on the farm where she resided until a year ago. She spent the past year receiving excellent care at Reflections in Chatham, IL. Ruth was an excellent homemaker and farm wife. She was a 4-H leader for more than 30 years, teaching many young girls how to cook, sew and manage a household. She was active in Homemakers Extension, Farm Bureau Women, Domestic Science Club of Loami, New Berlin Women's Club, and was a charter member of the Mary Martha Guild at St. John's Lutheran Church. She also served as a Sunday School teacher for 30 years. Ruth also served for more than 25 years as an election judge for the New Berlin Township. She is survived by her husband, Paul whom she married on April 6, 1952. She is also survived by their four living children, Bruce (LouAnn) Morrison of McLeansboro, IL, David (Julie) Morrison of New Berlin, IL, Deborah (Mark) Pierce of Springfield, IL and Barbara (Sean) Kirts of Mattoon, IL; ten grandchildren who called her "Grandma," Ben (Ellen) Morrison, Greg Morrison (companion, Allison England), Raegan (Travis) Johnson, Nicholas Morrison, Lucas (Rachel) Morrison, Martha, Hannah, and Jonathan Pierce, and Kegan and Sawyer Kirts; three great-grandchildren, Wesley, Julian and Charlie Rose Morrison; one brother, Robert (Joy) Komnick; and numerous nephews, nieces, and Komnick cousins survive her. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, February 5, 2016 at St. John's Lutheran Church, 300 E. Gibson St., New Berlin, IL. Funeral Ceremony: 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at St. John's Lutheran Church, with Pastor Benning officiating. Burial will follow at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in New Berlin, IL.
