

He was born Dec. 5, 1929 in Chicago, IL, the son of the late David and Ethel E. Oberman Levine. He married Delores Williams on March 27, 1950 in Springfield and she preceded him in death in 2005. His parents, son Gregory, 4 brothers, and a sister also preceded him in death.
Mr. Levine worked as an exterminator for Pillsbury Co. and had previously served 4 years in the U.S. Navy.
He is survived by 5 children; Stephen (wife Laura) Levine of Murfreesboro, TN, Gail (husband Dave) Schlemm of Springfield, Debbie (husband Keith) Atkinson of Taylorville, IL, Darlene Levine of Springfield, and Gordon (companion Greg) Levine of Springfield; 8 grandchildren, Jennifer (husband Tom) Anderson, Justin (wife Nadia) Levine, Eric Levine, Blake Levine, Stephanie Levine, Matthew Atkinson, Nathan Atkinson, and Rebekah Atkinson, and 5 great-grandchildren, Evan Anderson, Grant Anderson, Alana Levine, Riley Levine, and Stella Levine, and 5 siblings, Bernard (wife Grace) Levine, Jackie (husband Norman) Perlmutter, Phyllis (husband Eugene) Siegel, Stanley (wife Nancy) Levine, and Gerald (wife Jeanette) Levine, and sister-in-law Suzanne Levine, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins, and adopted daughter Bernadette Ely.
Arrangements are under the direction of Bisch and Son Funeral Home, 505 E. Allen, Springfield, where visitation will be held on Friday, Jan. 18, 2013 from 12 Noon until time of the funeral service at 1 pm. Rabbi Barry Marks will officiate. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Springfield.
