Shirley L. Bush

Shirley was born on June 18, 1931, in Savanna, IL, the daughter of Sylvester “Ted” McWorthy and Helen McWorthy. Her husband of 70 years, and the love of her life, RC Bush, preceded her in death.

Shirley took business classes and real estate classes at community colleges in Clinton, Iowa. She and RC worked together for 50 years in real estate and community development in Illinois, Iowa and Missouri. She retired from the Tri-City Chamber of Commerce in Granite City, IL in 1996. Shirley also volunteered with many groups organizing events for children.

Shirley loved baking, decorating, the holidays, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Her grandchildren remember she tucked treats away in her purse for them and that she made every holiday an event to remember.

Her parents; a son, RC Bush, Jr.; and a granddaughter, Elizabeth Bush, also preceded her in death.

She is survived by her daughter, Debbie (husband, Jeff) Bruce of Glenarm; a daughter-in-law, Kim Bush of Clinton, IA; three grand children, Marc Bush of Clinton, IA, Cory Bruce of Springfield, IL, and Kaitlyn Bruce of New Orleans, LA; two great-grandchildren, Julian Whisker and Rocco Whisker of Clinton, IA; one brother, Sylvester “Bud” McWorthy (companion, Sandy Crouse) of Morrison, IL; and several nieces and nephews.

Cremation will be provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center.

Graveside service to be held at Savanna Township Cemetery at a later date.
