

Sister Nancy Molohon, OP, 87, aka Sr. M. Callista, died on September 19, 2008 at Sacred Heart Convent, the Motherhouse of the Dominican Sisters of Springfield. Sr. Nancy was born January 7, 1921, to William and Catherine (Wathen) Molohon, in St. Joseph, KY. She joined the Dominican Sisters in 1952 and professed her religious vows in 1953. Sr. Nancy taught/administered in Catholic parish schools at St. Cabrini and Little Flower, Springfield; Sacred Heart, Granite City; St. Thomas, Crystal Lake; St. Anne School, St. Anne; St. Charles, Hampshire; St. Margaret Mary, Algonquin and St. Michael, Duluth, MN. Sr. Nancy also ministered at Marian Catholic High School, Chicago Heights and at St. Dominic Hospital, Jackson, MS. For the past 22 years, Sister served in the congregation's archive office. Sr. Nancy had an insatiable desire for learning; she loved to read books on history and cultural diversity; she was interested in the struggle for justice for all people. She read to sisters whose eyesight had failed. Sister also faithfully kept in touch with her family. Sr. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents and brother, William. She is survived by a sister, Theresa Albrecht of Carrollton; four nieces and three nephews; and her Dominican Sisters with whom she lived and ministered for 56 years. Visitation will be from 3:30-7:00 p.m. on Monday, September 22, 2008 at Sacred Heart Convent Motherhouse, 1237 W. Monroe, Springfield. A vigil service will take place at 4:30 p.m. The Funeral Mass will follow at Sacred Heart Convent at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Peter Witchousky, OP, presiding. The Final Commendation and Burial Service will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 23, 2008 at Sacred Heart Convent Motherhouse, 1237 West Monroe, Springfield. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. The Dominican Sisters and the family of Sr. Nancy Molohon, OP are being served by Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield.
