

Sr. Marian L. Hogan, O.S.U., 84, of Springfield, died on November 3, 2007 at the St. Francis Convent Infirmary. Sr. Marian was born January 21, 1923 in Minneapolis, MN, the daughter of Adrian Patrick and Mary Alice Kernan Hogan. Sr. Marian Hogan entered the Ursuline Order on July 15, 1940 and made her 1st Vows on January 16, 1943 in Crystal City, Mo. She graduated from Villa Maria Academy in Frontenac, Minnesota and received a BA degree from the College of New Rochelle, NY; an MA from St. Louis University and an MA from St. Thomas University in St. Paul, Minnesota. During her years in the education ministry, Sr. Marian taught at St. Patrick's, St. Ambrose and SS. Peter and Paul in Alton, IL; St. Bernard's in Wood River, IL; Ursuline Academy and St. Patrick's in Galveston, TX; SS Peter and Paul in Springfield, IL; Corpus Christi High School, in Jennings, MO: Laboure High and Cardinal Ritter College Prep. in St. Louis, MO, St. Teresa High School in Decatur, IL, and Villa Maria Academy in Frontenac, MN. In 2003, Sr. Marian celebrated 60 years as an Ursuline Sister. Sr. Marian enjoyed sewing, needlework, music and visiting with friends and family. She liked to plant trees in memory of those who had passed. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother: Adrian Joseph Hogan and two sisters: Marilyn Maureen Henry and Sr. Alice Marie Hogan, OSU. She is survived by three sisters: Madonna Murphy of Attleboro, MA, Mercia Hogan of Wabasha, MN and Mary (husband, Edward) Wilson of Tahoe City, CA; seven nieces; twelve nephews; several great nieces and nephews and several cousins and her Ursuline Sisters. The family will receive friends from 11:00 – 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 7, 2007 at St. Francis Convent Motherhouse, 4849 LaVerna Rd., Springfield. Funeral Mass will follow visitation at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Andre Schludecker, OFM celebrant. Cremation will be accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center. Burial at The Villa Maria Center in Frontenac, MN will be at a later date.
