Stella M. Foster

Stella M. Foster, 92, a life-long resident of Springfield, died at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, April 8, 2013 at Villa Healthcare East. Stella was born November 18, 1920 in Springfield, the daughter of Thomas and Mary Plodzien Poludniak. She married Charles M. Foster on March 3, 1958 in Edwardsville; he preceded her in death on December 23, 1989. Stella worked at Fiat-Allis for 35 years and was a member of St. Katharine Drexel Parish at Sacred Heart Church. She was also a member of the P.O.L.K.A. Club and enjoyed tending to her house, working in her yard, and polka dancing with her husband. She was also preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Marilyn Rohde; and two brothers, Edward and Paul Poludniak. She is survived by one son, Greg Foster and Becky Flynn of Springfield; one daughter, Carol Bowsher of Cypress, CA; son-in-law, Bob Rohde of Corona, CA; five grandchildren, Cindy, Vickie, Stephanie, Johanna, and Jeannie; thirteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. on Thursday, April 11, 2013 at St. Katharine Drexel Parish at Sacred Heart Church, 730 S. 12th St., Springfield. Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 11, 2013at St. Katharine Drexel Parish at Sacred Heart Church, with Rev. Zachary Edgar celebrant. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
