Steve Smith, Sr.

Steve was born August 7, 1964 in Springfield, the son of Wendell O. and Thelma L. Douthit Smith. He married Kimberly S. Lowe on August 29, 1998 in Springfield.

Steve was a plant operator for Anderson Concrete/County Materials for 25 years. He was currently working for District #186 at Lee School as a custodian. Steve enjoyed working on cars and in the yard, gardening, cooking, and grilling out.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Steven O. Smith; and five sisters, Wanda Smith, June Powell, Tammy Scroggins, Elaine Smith, and Barbara Phillips.

He is survived by his wife, Kimberly S. Lowe-Smith of Springfield; three sons, Steven Jr. (wife, Brittany) Smith of Edinburg, Chad M. (wife, Mercedes) Smith of New Berlin, and Justin (wife, Kenzie) Drone of Taylorville; daughter, Gabrielle (fiancé, Eric Holmes) Shirley of Springfield; nine grandchildren, Karleigh, Alexis, Cashton, Cody, ZaKai, ZaKari, Heavyn, Eric Jr. and Ella; six siblings, Wayne (Linda) Smith of Estill Springs, TN, Jeanie Layman of Springfield, Mike Smith of Springfield, Wendy Hutchinson of Springfield, Donna (Gary) Dunbar of Chatham, Phillip (Sherri) Smith of Springfield; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.

Funeral Ceremony: 3:00 p.m. on Monday, October 14, 2019 at Butler Funeral Home— Springfield, 900 S. 6th Street, Springfield with Rev. Brian Mills officiating. Family will receive friends following the ceremony until 7:00 p.m.

Cremation will be provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center following ceremonies.
