Steven L. Westerfield

Steven L. Westerfield, 57, of Springfield, passed away at 9:48 p.m. on Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at St. John's Hospital. Steven was born May 13, 1956 in Springfield, the son of Daniel Lawrence and Esther Lynn Fleagle Westerfield. Steven was a graduate of Lanphier High School. He was a member of Illinois Fathers, an accomplished handyman, and enjoyed the Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs. He was active in Kumler United Methodist Church and Community Outreach Ministries. He loved his children and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. At the time of his death he was employed by Advance Construction. He was preceded in death by his parents; one step-son, Jacob Folder; and one nephew, James Lee Westerfield. He is survived by his wife, Sherri Westerfield of Springfield; two sons, Steven T. (wife, Julia) of Springfield and Joshua A. Westerfield of Taylorville; grandchildren and step-grandchildren; three brothers, Lawrence Allyn Westerfield of Decatur, Russell Luther Westerfield of Auburn, and Lee Everett Westerfield of Lincoln; three sisters, Lela C. Westerfield, Alicia L. Reed, and Anita L. Westerfield, all of Springfield; one niece, Patricia (husband, Sam) Southard; and two nephews, David and John Westerfield. Visitation and Funeral Ceremony: Family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral ceremony at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 2, 2014 at Kumler United Methodist Church, 600 N. 5th St., Springfield with Rev.
