

Stuart A. "Stu" Jameson, 79, of Springfield, IL, died at 11:15 p.m. on Tuesday, November 6, 2012 in Rincon, Ga. Stu was born November 27, 1932 in Springfield, the son of Lester and Mildred Combs Jameson. He married Erma Sennings on January 12, 1952 who preceded him in death. Stu was a graduate of Lanphier High School and retired in 1998 after 47 years at First National Bank of Springfield where he worked since the day after graduation. He was a member of the American Business Club and the Board of Directors for the LPGA State Farm Classic at the Rail Golf Course where he was a tee announcer for 20 years. Stu was inducted to the Springfield Sports Hall of Fame, was a "Friend of Sports" board member, and was on the selection committee. He coached baseball at Lincoln Land Community College and the Riverton and Lanphier local leagues. Stu was the assistant basketball coach at Washington Junior High and Industry League. Stu coached the Springfield Area Thoroughbred League All-Star baseball team in the 1979 World Series in Norfolk, VA, where the team took third place. He also coached the Colt League All-Stars at the 1969 World Series in Lafayette, IN and finished second place. Stu enjoyed coaching baseball, was an avid White Sox and U of I fan, a former umpire/referee, and a passionate golfer. He was also preceded in death by his parents and one son, Ronald Jameson. He is survived by one son, Jerry Jameson, (wife Laurie); mother-in-law, Mildred Sennings; ten grandchildren, Jason, Greg, Allison, Adam, Amy, and Aaron Jameson, Sunshine, Wendell, Bryan and Robert Zulauf; eight great-grandchildren; and daughter-in-law, Pam Jameson. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 3:00-6:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 10, 2012 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Funeral Ceremony: 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 11, 2012 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
