On August 16, 2005, Supriya (Madhu) Ganguli died unexpectedly at his residence of four years in Springfield, IL. He is survived by his wife and older daughter, Nancy and Shonti Ganguli, both of Springfield, and by his younger daughter, Priya Ganguli, of Oakland, CA. Madhu is survived also by his 2 brothers and 2 sisters, all of Calcutta, India, who are Sukirti Mohan Ganguli and Subrata Ganguli, and Mridula Chatterjee and Chinmoyee Chatterjee, respectively, and several nephews and nieces and great nephews and great nieces. Madhu was preceded in death by his parents, Dr Sudhangsu Ganguli and Gouri Ganguli. Madhu was born August 6, 1938, at Calcutta, India, and resided there until 1961 when he came to US for higher education. He obtained his Ph.D. in physiology at Kansas State University in 1976. He has been employed as a research scientist at SIU School of Medicine in Springfield, IL, since 2001. Please share your thoughts and memories of Madhu in the memorial guestbook. Madhu’s family will hold a private ceremony prior to cremation on Saturday, August 20, at Kirlin Egan and Butler Funeral Home. On Sunday, August 21, the family encourages friends to join them from 9AM until 10PM at their home (105 N. State St. @ Washington St.) to celebrate Madhu’s life.
