

Susan Mae Wise, 73, of Sherman, died at 12:15 a.m. Saturday, February 07, 2004 at St. John’s Hospice. Susan was born March 26, 1930 in New York, NY the daughter of Alonzo D. and Thelma L. Palmer Quinn. She married Richard Wise. She graduated from Huntington, Long Island, NY High School where she won the National American Legion Speaking Contest. She was a commercial television and photographic model in New York City during the 1950’s and 1960’s appearing on shows such as “The Price is Right” and “The Tonite Show” plus Hill Brothers Coffee ads sponsoring the Walt Disney Program. She earned a BA in Psychology/Sociology from Allegheny College in Meadville, PA. Mrs Wise received her Real Estate License in 1985 and was a realtor for Re/Max Professionals. She received the Illinois Association of Realtors Silver and Gold Clubs Award and was a member of the Re/Max Hall of Fame. She was a member of National Association of Realtors, Illinois Association of Realtors, Capital Association of Realtors, Residential Sales Council – National Marketing Institute and Seniors Advantage Real Estate Council. She was active as a volunteer for Springfield Symphony Guild, Children’s Miracle Network, American Heart Association and Springfield “Crime Stoppers”. She was a former member of the Illini Country Club and a member of Nighthawks Dance Club and American Association of Retired People (AARP). She enjoyed gardening in her spare time. She is survived by her husband: Richard Wise of Sherman; one son: Alan R. (wife, Susana) Wise of Methuen, MA; one daughter: Susan J. (husband, Paul) Tremblay of Barre, MA; three grandchildren: Wayne Tremblay, Jennifer Wise and Raymond Wise; one sister: Ann (husband, William) Stampf of Centereach, Long Island, NY and a number of nieces and nephews. A memorial gathering will be on Friday, February 13, 2004 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St. where family will receive friends from 4-7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to ALS Foundation (Lou Gehrig’s Disease) Les Turner ALS Foundation, 8142 N. Lawndale Ave, Skokie, IL 60076-3322. The family of Susan Mae Wise is being served by Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home and Cremation Tribute Center 900 S. 6th St., Springfield.
