

Taek Su Kim, 82, of Springfield, passed away on January 12, 2026 with his family by his side. He was born in South Korea to Seok Yong Kim and Hae Soon Lee. Survived by his wife of 58 years, Kum Suk Kim.
Mr. Kim is also survived by two brothers, one sister, three daughters: Rachel Kim-Mesina (Ricky) and grandchildren (Jade, Paige, Nathan, Eli). Suzzan Kim-Rudibaugh (Charlie) and grandchildren (Leah, Lauren) and Sarah Foster (Grahm) and grandchildren (Jordan, Eden, Judah).
Taek Su immigrated from South Korea to the United States in 1971 and made Springfield, Illinois his lifelong home. A devoted entrepreneur, he owned and operated several businesses, including Brown's Auto Body shop for 30 years. He also founded the Korean Church of Springfield in the 1970's, where he faithfully served as an Elder for many years.
After retiring, Taek Su dedicated his life to world missionary work, continuing his commitment to faith and service. He found joy in gardening, home improvement projects, and cherished spending time Face Timing with his 9 grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30am on Saturday January 24, 2026 at Bisch Funeral Home West, 2931 Koke Mill Road, with burial to follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 10:00am until the time of service at Bisch West.
