

Terence J. “Terry” Mayfield, 73, a lifelong resident of Springfield, passed away at 8:25 p.m. Monday, December 2, 2002 at St. John’s Hospital. Terry was born November 8, 1929 in Springfield, the son of Dr. Joseph T. and Dorothy Davis Mayfield. He married Rosie M. Cirillo, June 5, 1954 at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church. Terry, a graduate of Cathedral Grade School and Cathedral Boys High School, was employed by Ace Hardware for 35 years and retired in 1991 as a manager. He was an honorary life member and past Grand Knight of Knights of Columbus Council #364; he was also a past member of Elk’s Lodge #158 and a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church. He very much enjoyed family activities. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Donald E. Mayfield. He is survived by his wife: Rosie M. of Springfield; one son: Doug (wife, Debbie) Mayfield of Springfield; one daughter Debbie (husband, Ted) Alstott of Springfield; three grandchildren; Adam and Alison Alstott and Laura Mayfield all of Springfield; two nieces; two nephews and several cousins. Friends may call at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home from 5-8:00 p.m. Thursday, December 5, 2002. Visitation will begin with a prayer service at 5:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Friday, December 6, 2002 at St. Agnes Catholic Church with Very Reverend Patrick J. Wright, V.F. celebrant. Burial will follow in Camp Butler National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph School 1344 N. 5th St., Springfield, IL 62702.
