

Thomas Eugene Bartolomucci, Sr., 83, of Chatham, passed away peacefully Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at St. John�s Hospice. Tom was born January 8, 1932, in Springfield, IL to Antonio and Marie Taranta Bartolomucci. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara on June 17, 2014 after 57 years of marriage; great grandson, Kaiden Michael, brother Michael and sister Valencia Rawlings. He married Barbara Ruth Schwarberg, on May 4, 1957. Tom was a Korean War Veteran, serving in the Air Force from 1952-1955, at Elmendorf AFB in Anchorage, Alaska. Tom started his surveying career at Hanson Engineers for 11 years. He was a founding partner of Auby, Oglesby and Bartolomucci, Consulting Engineers and Land Surveyors for 35 years, retiring in 1999. Tom was a member of the Illinois Land Surveyor Examining Board and Chatham American Legion Post #759. During the 1960s Old State Capitol restoration project, he made a detailed survey of the site so that every single stone could be returned to its exact place when the project was completed. Tom was a Republican Sangamon County Precinct committeeman, and loved woodworking and gardening. Tom will be greatly missed by his daughters, Ann (Jim) Hamrick of Springfield, Tammy Bartolomucci (husband, Kit Jones) of Springfield, Mary Bartolomucci (husband, Mark Green) of Chatham, and sons Tom (Beth) Bartolomucci, Jr., John Bartolomucci all of Chatham; grandchildren, Becky Spengler, Danielle Bartolomucci Beckham (Seth), Tommy Bartolomucci III (fianc�e Cortni Ramm), Ashleigh Hamrick, Scottie Claycomb; several nieces, nephews and cousins. The Interveteran�s Burial Detail of Sangamon County will conduct military honors at 2pm, Tuesday, April 28 at Staab Polk Memorial Home, Chatham. His family will then greet friends until the time of the funeral service at 4pm, Tuesday, April 28 at Staab Polk Memorial Home, 8855 State Route 4, Chatham with Fr. Dennis Kollross as officiant. Burial will be at Chatham Memorial Cemetery.
