Thomas “Dean” Fleming lost his battle with cancer on Saturday, May 19, 2007 at the age of 73. He married Alice Clements on June 16, 1956 in Springfield, IL. Tom was born in Sullivan, IL on October 9, 1934. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Orla Cummings Fleming and sister, Nancy Rees of Dawson. He was a proud 45-year member of Carpenters Local 16 and retired from St. John’s Hospital Carpenter Shop on October 4, 1996. Tom was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving in the Korean War. Surviving are his wife, Alice of 50 years, and many nieces and nephews. He was a sensitive person and in his quiet way would give generously to those less fortunate. Tom was a wonderful husband dearly missed by his wife, neighbors, friends and family. Cremation was accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. A memorial gathering will be held from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 23, 2007 at McCullough-Delaney and Butler Funeral Home, 714 E. Gibson, New Berlin. Memorial services will follow at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 23, 2007 with Rev. Warren Brosi officiating.
