Thomas Griffin

Tom was born in Springfield, June 10, 1933 the son of Alfred A. and Agnes (Fagen) Griffin. He married Donna J. Wanless in Decatur, IL in 1952 and she preceded him in death June 21, 2006.

Tom was a cement finisher by profession for over 32 years. He was proud to oversee the construction of many McDonald’s Restaurants. Tom retired as an inspector with Syds Construction Co in Taylorville. He was a member of the Plaster’s and Cement Union and served as their business manager for several years. He was Captain with the Sangamon County Rescue Squad for over 20 years and was a member of the Eagles Lodge, Aries 437.

Surviving are his four sons: Rex Griffin, Al (wife Connie) Griffin, Barry Griffin, all of Springfield, and Brian Griffin of Peoria, IL. He has five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Also surviving are his brother, Bob (Mary) Beck of Springfield, and a cousins, Ron (wife Joyce) Sandige of Rockford, IL.

A graveside service will be held at 2 pm Monday, May 8, 2017 at the Joe Brunk Cemetery. Rev. Robert Gebhardt will officiate.
