Thomas "Tom" Mack, 74, of Springfield, lost his battle with cancer at 9:45 a.m. on Thursday, April 14, 2016 at Memorial Medical Center. Tom was born January 6, 1942 in Springfield, the son of John and Mary Gidus Mack, Sr. Tom joined his family in owning the Springfield McDonald's Restaurants from 1957 to 1989. One of Tom's great accomplishments was helping bring the Ronald McDonald House to Springfield. The inspiration was given by his mother who always thought it would be a wonderful idea. Tom was very proud of his Lithuanian heritage and helped create the Lithuanian-American Club in Springfield. He was also proud to be a Northender. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, John; and sister, JoAnn Shaughnessy. He is survived by his wife, Eleanor Mack of Springfield; his wonderful children, Terry Mack of Springfield, Tom Mack of Lewisville, TX, and Maureen Mueller of Springfield; four awesome grandchildren, Jeremy, Brendan, Joshua, and Lauren; siblings, Mary Ann Butts and Jim Mack; and many nieces and nephews.
