

Thomas Emil Maybury, 86, of Springfield, died at 2:24 a.m. on Friday, November 15, 2007 at St. John’s Hospital. Thomas was born November 6, 1921 in Springfield, the son of John Samuel and Martha Eschenfeldt Maybury. He married Harriet Isabelle Reimer on April 14, 1943 in Yuma, AZ. Thomas was a graduate of Lanphier High School. He was a Master Sergeant with the U.S. Marine Corps and served during WWII and the Korean Conflict. Thomas was employed as a carpenter with Barker Lubin and later Acme Woodworks until his retirement. He was a member of Carpenters Union Local #16 for 60 years. Thomas was also a member of the Greater Springfield Bowling Association and was inducted into their Hall of Fame on October 22, 1988. Besides bowling, he also enjoyed golf and fishing and never missed one of his grandkids’ ballgames. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother: Harold Maybury. He is survived by his wife of over 60 years: Harriet Maybury of Springfield; one son: Mike (wife, Patti) Maybury of Springfield; one daughter: Peg (husband, Leon) Lochbaum of Springfield; four grandchildren: Jeff (wife, Stacey) Lochbaum of Springfield, John (wife, Shannon) Lochbaum of Sycamore, IL, Pamela Watts of Riverton and Thomas “Bub” Maybury of Springfield; eleven great-granchildren; one sister: Shirley Hirstein of Boca Raton, FL; and one niece. Family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the time of ceremonies at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, November 19, 2007 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield with Pastor Glen Vanderkloot officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
