Thomas E. Peters

Thomas was born March 9, 1941, in Island Grove Township, the son of Theodore and Josephine M. Ludwig Peters. He married Ethel “Irene” Lewis on May 30, 1975, at Central Baptist Church in Springfield, IL; she preceded him in death on May 7, 2016.

Thomas graduated New Berlin High School and proudly served his country in the Army. He was a self-employed plumber for over 50 years. Those who utilized his service knew that when Tom’s tailgate was down, you were getting billed! Tom was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council #4372, and the 5:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. coffee groups.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; brother, Charles Peters; and sister, Rosemary Frank.

Thomas is survived by his brother, Jim Peters of New Berlin; nieces, Toni Frank of New Berlin, Tomi (Jeffrey) Patrick of Chatham, and Darla (Gerald) Harris of Odessa, MO; nephew, Joseph Peters of Odessa, MO; and many cousins and friends.

Visitation and Funeral Mass: Family will receive friends from 9:00 until 10:45 a.m. on Thursday, July 29, 2021, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 404 E. Birch St., New Berlin. A Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Ron Lorilla, celebrant.

Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery with military honors.
