Vera J. Edwards, 94, of Springfield, formerly of Chatham, passed away on July 24, 2024 at Mill Creek. She was born on January 7, 1930 in Lacon, Illinois to Francis L. Gustavson and Edna M. Masear. Vera married Harold Rodell on November 25, 1950 and he preceded her in death in 1978. She then married Thomas Edwards on June 12, 1982 and he preceded her in death in 2005.
Mrs. Edwards is survived by her daughters: Debra Rodell of Pawnee and Lisa (Tony) Jones of Divernon, six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one sister Carol Eden. She was preceded in death by one brother Gordon Gustavson.
Vera was a member of the Chatham Women’s Club, the ANSAR Ansarettes and Chatham United Methodist Church. She also volunteered at St. John’s Breadline and Memorial Medical Center.
Cremation rites were accorded.
