Virginia Carol Edwards

Virginia was born at home in New Berlin, IL March 12, 1931 the daughter of Russell C. “Jack” and Grace E. (Johnson) Hovey. She married George “Darrell” Edwards July 4, 1951 in Waverly, IL and he preceded her in death February 28, 1996. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Roger Hovey, two sisters; Rheta Smith and Joyce Crawford and very recently, her son, Kent Edwards.

Virginia worked for Franklin Life Insurance Company and then retired from Carle Clinic in Champaign. She was an avid sports fan, but especially the Chicago Cubs. She had a passion for animals and their wellbeing. She was proud of her family and their accomplishments. Spending time with them and sharing in stories and creating memories was very special to her.

Surviving are her children: Mike (Cheryl) Edwards, Becky (Greg) Fisher, Steve (Cheryl) Edwards, daughter-in-law, Debbi Edwards, her grandchildren: Jason (Samantha) Fisher, Brian Fisher, Josh (Jennifer) Edwards, Kristy (Brian) Garrett and Lynnsey (Dusty) Brownfield, her eight great grandchildren, two sisters; Martha Pippin and Kay (Larry) Price, her sister-in-law, Janet Hovey and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Arrangements are in the care of Bisch Funeral Home West where family and friends are invited for visitation from 10:00 am Saturday, April 30, 2022 until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 am. Pastor Miriam Snider will officiate. Burial will follow in Sulphur Springs Cemetery, Loami, IL

In lieu of flowers, those who wish may direct memorial contributions to a local Humane Society in honor of Virginia’s love for animals.
