Wanda Lee King, 77, of Springfield, passed away on Tuesday, April 7, 2009 at St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. Wanda was born on August 15, 1931 in Springfield, the daughter of Charles E. King, Sr. and Beulah Mae Reeves King. Wanda graduated from Lanphier High School. She was a computer operator at Franklin Life, retiring in 1996. Earlier, she had worked with Chapman Propane, Dictaphone Corp. Preceding Wanda in death are her parents. She is survived by her brother, Charles E. King, Jr. of Craig Beach, OH; an aunt, Betty Jean Rowley and an uncle, Yale Rowley, both of Springfield; in addition to several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Cremation will be accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center. At Wanda's request, there will be no public ceremonies. Wanda loved animals. Never able to turn away an animal in need, she rescued many strays. Therefore, memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Protective League, 1001 Taintor Rd., Springfield, IL 62702.
