

Wesley James Brooks, 53, of Springfield, passed away on Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at St. John's Hospital. Wesley was born on February 25, 1956 in Lexington, MS, the son of Thomas and Rachel Scott Brooks. He married Angela Brown on May 15, 1976 in Springfield. Wesley graduated from Southeast High School. He was employed as a foreman for the City of Springfield Public Works Department. An avid sports fan, Wesley was also a skilled carpenter and enjoyed making picture frames and furniture. He was also an avid reader and loved reading books. He believed in God and loved reading the bible. Wesley was a man who was all about peace. Above all, he was a loving and devoted father and husband, putting his wife and children above everything else. Preceding Wesley in death were his father, Thomas Brooks and brother, Willie Brooks. He is survived by his wife, Angela Brooks of Springfield; two sons, Christopher and Brian Brooks, both of Springfield; his mother, Rachel Brooks of Springfield; his siblings, Elizabeth Greer of Springfield, Tom Lee Brooks of Springfield, Dessie Brooks of Springfield, Erma Williams of Chicago, Penny Brooks of Belleville, MI, Edward Brooks of Springfield, Gloria Brooks of Springfield, Bernard Brooks of Carson, CA, Geraldine Morgan of Springfield, and Annie Tillman of Springfield. Family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 20, 2009 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Services will follow at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 20, 2009 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home with Minister Jeff Reed officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
