

He was born in Springfield, November 7, 1954, married his loving wife Vickie Handy in Springfield on May 25, 1974 and she survives. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elwood J. and Norma Mae DeArmond Haacke.
He is also survived by his children; Angela (husband Lt. David USN) Collins of Chesapeake, VA, Stacy Lynch, and Timothy (wife Jessica) Haacke both of Chatham. There are 7 grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Linda (husband Michael) Dunbar of Springfield, his brother, Michael (companion Barb Whitlow) Haacke of Chatham. There are several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Prior to his retirement in 2010, Bill was a Building Trades Journeyman Pipefitter with the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 137. He was also an instructor of welding and OSHA compliance for over 20 years for local 137. He served as a representative to the National Convention in 2005 and 2011. Bill was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, LCMS in Chatham.
He loved golf, fishing, boating, and spending time with his family and friends. He was an avid fan of the Chicago Blackhawks, Cubs, and the Bears.
Arrangements are under the direction of Bisch Funeral Home West 2931 S. Koke Mill Rd. where visitation will be Sunday, October 2, 2011 from 2-5 pm and where funeral services will be on Monday October 3, 2011 at 10:00 am. Rev. Clarence Rogers will officiate. Burial will follow in Chatham Cemetery.
