

William Aloysius Lochrie, 88, of Springfield died on Sunday, January 28, 2001 at the St. Jude Medical Center in Fullerton, California. He was born on November 14, 1912 in West Calder in County of Edinburgh, Scotland, the son of William Joseph Lochrie and Margaret E. Dickson Lochrie. He was baptized in West Calder on January 8, 1913 by Fr. Thomas McDonna. He came to the United States in 1915 with his parents. He was married to Olga Marie Verbeni Lochrie on September 29, 1938 by Fr. O'Dwyer at Sts. Simon & Jude Church in Gillespie, IL. His beloved Olga died on October 10, 1990. Also preceding him in death were his sister Mae Frances Lochrie Stoll (1/18/1975), brother John Dickson Lochrie (5/18/1999), and sister Margaret Veronica Lochrie Hendrick (10/11/2000). Mr. Lochrie began his business career as editor of The Progressive Miner, a publication of the Progressive Mine Workers of America, where he worked for five years. For 33 years, he worked for Allis-Chalmers Manufacturing Co., which later became known as FiatAllis. At the time of his retirement in January, 1976, Mr. Lochrie was a Personnel Manager. Prior to that assignment, he had been Labor Relations Manager for ten years. In his humble, Scottish manner, he touched many lives during his illustrious career at Allis-Chalmers/FiatAllis. Mr. Lochrie was a very active member for over 57 years at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, serving as usher for the majority of the years. He loved to meet with his friends and colleagues in the FiatAllis Salaried Retirees Inc. organization for the past 25 years. He thoroughly enjoyed playing bridge at the South Side Senior Center on Mason Street. His friends at the Senior Services of Central Illinois always looked forward to his participation. Survivors: Two sons, William D. (wife, Patricia) Lochrie of Fullerton, CA, and Richard J. (wife, Kathleen M.) Lochrie of Wauwatosa, WI; four grandchildren, Elizabeth M. Lochrie of Waukesha, WI, Lynn (husband, Bogdan) Hnat of Coventry, England, Brian (wife, Arianna Barrios) Lochrie of Orange, CA, and William J. Lochrie of Fullerton, CA; four great-grandchildren, Joseph and Maxwell D. Lochrie and Camille and Adam Hnat; nieces, nephews, sister-in-law, brother-in-law, cousin, and dear friends. Friends may call at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home from 5-8 p.m. on Sunday, February 4, 2001. In honor of Mr. Lochrie's special devotion to the Rosary, to the Blessed Virgin Mary, and to St. Martin de Porres, the Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. It will be followed by special songs performed by the Sts. Simon & Jude Church Choir. Rev. John Ossola and Rev. Robert Becker will concelebrating the Funeral Mass to be held on Monday, February 5, 2001, at 10:30 a.m. at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery. Luncheon will be served for Mr. Lochrie's relatives and friends at the Heritage House, 3851 S. 6th Street, Springfield to conclude the Services.
