William E. Bill Rhoads

Bill was born on May 27, 1954 in Springfield, the son of Robert D. and Barbara A. Coe Rhoads.

Bill was a 1972 graduate of Pleasant Plains High School. He was employed by the Illinois Department of Transportation, retiring in 2002 with more than 20 years of service. Bill was a free spirit who loved rock and roll music. To be in the thick of the music, he was a band roadie for many years. In his later years, he enjoyed watching 60s TV shows, riding his bicycle, a good conversation with friends, and spending time with his beloved cat, Leo.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his siblings, Nancy (husband, Jerry) McDonald of Springfield and Karen Rhoads of Cobb, CA; and one niece, Ashley (fianc, Justin Gurley) McDonald.

Cremation was accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies.

Memorial Gathering: Family will receive friends from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, January 5, 2018 at Boardman-Smith Funeral Home, 800 South Grand Avenue West, Springfield.
