William M. "Mick" Richard, Sr.

William M. "Mick" Richard, Sr., 77, of Springfield, joined his beautiful wife of 50 years at 11:35 a.m. on Monday, June 8, 2015 for their final ride off into the sunset. William was born September 26, 1937 in Springfield, the son of John and Bertha Lawson Richard, Sr. He married Alice Mae Fisher on June 18, 1965 in Springfield; she preceded him in death on July 6, 1995. William proudly served his country in the United States Army and worked as a cab driver for Midstate Cab Company. He enjoyed Western movies, listening to baseball games and was an avid Cardinals fan. He was also preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Lewis, Gust and John Richard, Jr. He is survived by two sons, William "Billy" M. Richard, Jr. and George "Andy" (wife, Molly) Richard, all of Springfield; three daughters, Jane Ann Richard, Bertha Jean Richard, and Kelly Sue Richard, all of Springfield; ten grandchildren, Megan, Alora, Kristi, Alicia, Andrew, Lakyn, Robert, Brittney, Ashley, and Kendall; twelve great-grandchildren, Jasmyne, Jason, Jr., Allison, Markie, Dakota, Alice Mae, Purnell, Percy, Taylor, Jade, Iayruha, and Rylan; one brother, George L. (wife, Mary) Richard, of Springfield; three sisters, Bessie (husband, Willy) Thorne of Lincoln, Emma Bowen and Mary Ann Williams, both of Springfield; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Funeral Ceremony: 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 18, 2015 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, with Celebrant Judy Woerner officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery, with military honors provided by the Department of Defense and Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County.
