William L. Thrasher

William L. Thrasher, 69, of Springfield, died at 2:40 a.m. Sunday, August 08, 2004 at Memorial Medical Center. William was born December 31, 1934 in Decatur, AL the son of Thomas and Beatrice Woodruff Thrasher. He married Eleanor Altman in 1954 in Springfield. Mr. Thrasher attended Temple College in Chattanooga, TN. He had owned and operated Thrasher Heating and Air Conditioning before working for Henson Robinson Heating and Air Conditioning. He retired as project estimator after 30 years. He was a U.S. Army Veteran. He was a member of Pipe and Steamfitters Local #137 and Cherry Hills Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for many years. He was also a member of the Press Club and had been a Scout Master of Troop 186 in Springfield. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Joyce and one brother, Glenn. He is survived by his wife: Eleanor of Springfield; one son: Jeffrey (wife, Anne-Marie) Thrasher of Houston, TX; one daughter: Beth (husband, Michael) O’Shea of Springfield; three grandchildren: Andrew Thrasher of Houston, TX, Matthew and Grace O’Shea of Springfield; one sister: Louise (husband, Lewis) Key of AL; two brothers: James (wife, Brenda) Thrasher of TX, Dr. Billy (wife, Juanita) Thrasher of FL and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Family will receive friends from 5-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 10, 2004 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home. Additional visitation will be from 9:30-10:15 a.m. Wednesday, August 11, 2004 at Cherry Hills Baptist Church, 1220 Outer Park Dr, Springfield, IL 62704. Funeral Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 11, 2004 at Cherry Hills Baptist Church, 1220 Outer Park Dr, Springfield with Rev. Jeff Nelsen officiating. Burial will follow at Chatham Memorial Cemetery in Chatham. Memorial contributions may be made to Cherry Hills Baptist Church Building Fund, 1220 Outer Park Dr. Springfield, IL 62704.
