

Wilma Kathryn Chandler Hammond, 89, of Springfield, formerly of Loami, Farmersville, and Chatham, passed away Sunday, February 1, 2015 at her home. She was born June 13, 1925 in Waverly, to Theodore and Etta Flood Meyer. She was preceded in death by two husbands Clarence �LeRoy� Chandler, Jr. and Fred Hammond, as well as her sister Irene Sybert and brothers, Ray, Carl and Jerry Meyer. Living through the depression, Wilma had a very strong work ethic and began her own beauty care business as a teenager, later opening �Petite Beauty Salon�; she worked for DICKEY-john and for the State of Illinois, Department of Public Aid, where she retired. Wilma enjoyed dancing, music and flower gardening. Wilma was strong in her Christian faith and attended Chatham Christian Church. She will be greatly missed by her son, Larry (Kaye) Chandler of Mt. Zion, and daughter, Nancy (Ken) Barry of Springfield; grandchildren; James (Cathy) Chandler of Chatham, Thomas Chandler of Decatur, Tracy (Chad) Formea of Chatham, Ryan (Beth) Chandler of Champaign; great grandchildren, Audrey and Autumn Chandler and Reagan and Cooper Formea; several nieces and nephews. Her family will greet friends from 10am until time of the funeral service at 11 am, Wednesday, February 4, at Chatham Christian Church, 9897 S. Main Street, Chatham, with Rick Wenneborg officiating. Burial will follow at Sulphur Springs Cemetery in Loami. Staab Polk Memorial Home, 8855 State Route 4, Chatham, IL 62629 is serving the Chandler-Hammond family.
