Alene Joyce Taylor Smith

She was born in Candler, N.C. to Dallas Taylor and Loretta Westmoreland and has resided in Virginia and the Washington area for 72 years. She leaves her beloved husband of 60 years James Warren Smith, a brother-in-law William Smith and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother Lee Taylor of NC and sisters Mable Gaddy of GA and Lillian Arth of MI.

Alene retired from the Federal Bureau of Investigations after 30 years of meritorious service. She is a member of the FBI Alumni Chapter 35. For many years Alene and husband Jim enjoyed participating in car rallies and after getting her pilot license, she expanded her travels. Her love of travel took her and Jim around the world and the USA. She loved flowers, plants, and gardening, belonging to two Garden Clubs and two bridge card clubs. She enjoyed life and will be greatly missed.

Friends welcome on Friday, November 4 from 10-11 am at Demaine Funeral Home, Springfield, where a service to celebrate her life will immediately follow. Interment at National Memorial Park, Falls Church.
