

Amado R. Diaz Sr. of Gainesville, VA passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday morning, September 23, 2017. He is survived by his wife, Elisa A. Diaz; his son, Amado A. Diaz Jr.; his daughter-in-law, Lieu U. Diaz; and his grandchildren Kobe K. Diaz, Niko N. Diaz, Karissa K. Diaz, Nila N. Diaz, and a future grandchild due in January 2018.
Born on February 15, 1949, Amado R. Diaz was the second youngest from a family of five children. Amado earned a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Fine Arts from the University of Santo Tomas and a Degree in Journalism from PLM. Amado started his career as an Illustrator for a Comics company, and then moved on to work at National Museum of the Philippines as an Archaeologist. He later returned to his passion for art and spent the rest of his career as a Graphic Artist for the Freeman Decorating Company.
Outside of his career, Amado had the reputation as a handyman that was a jack of all trades. He could repair anything from appliances to automobiles. Amado completed numerous construction projects which included two fully finished basements by performing all electrical, plumbing, tiling, masonry, and drywall work all on his own.
Amado’s hobbies included a multitude of interests. Amado was an artist who specialized in human anatomy and a master Chess player. He also loved to cook and play his favorite video game, Pac Man. He was an avid watcher of WWE, collector of Kung Fu movies, and a huge fan of legendary boxer, Manny Pacquiao.
Amado was known to be creative, kind, charismatic, funny, and honest. He had a passion for life and an unconditional love for his family and friends. He will be forever missed.
