Mrs. Ann Lynn McDonald of Alexandria, VA died peacefully in her home on January 2, 2012. Born on March 22, 1937 in Lynchburg, VA, she was a twin daughter of the late John and Agatha Blankinship. She graduated from Hopkinsville High School, Hopkinsville, KY in 1955. "Lynn" as friends fondly called her, met her future husband "Marty" 58 years ago while living with her family in Marrakech, French Morocco. Her father was assigned to an Air Force military detachment while Marty was on his first assignment to an AF Radar Bomb Scoring Detachment. Married on April 16, 1955, Lynn and Marty were deployed to 19 different military assignments throughout the United States and Overseas. While in their last assignment, Lynn retired from Northrop Grumman, Washington DC office as the Legislative Affairs Secretary. Lynn loved to read novels of all types and also had an enthusiasm for constructing her library of more than 4,000 movie titles. She enjoyed her retirement years with her love, Marty, and their best friend, a Yellow Lab named Murphy. Lynn fought a courageous battle with Lung disease and graciously seemed to shrug off a condition that would have caused many people to give up years ago. She always had a cheery attitude and gentle way that she went about her life, in spite of the many challenges she faced. Lynn is survived by her husband "Marty", four sons, Michael, Kevin, Christopher and Patrick and three daughters, Patricia, Theresa and Elizabeth. She enjoyed spending time with her fourteen grandchildren. Lynn will be buried at Arlington National Cemetery on March 19, 2012. A Mass in the Old Chapel at Fort Meyer will begin at 2:45 PM with burial following Mass. Everyone is invited to a reception following services at the Fort Meyer Officer's Club. In lieu of flowers, a contribution may be made to the Hospice Foundation.
