 In the early pre-dawn hours of January 2nd, 1962, Benny traveled across Philadelphia to join us for our return to Indiana University where we were studying Russian.  It was significant to us as we were married the previous evening, and we all spent the next 18 hours together.  Our hearts have been bonded ever since.

We've enjoyed many friendships over the years, yet none more treasured than ours with Ben.   

We trusted Ben Butler and he trusted us - and that is sacred.

Surely scores of family and friends will always miss his presence in our midst, but the imprint of his kind nature will abide with us.
Comfort be with you at this difficult time.

Mary and I were  sad to here  about the passing of a wonderful guy. Mary and I had many wonderful memories of Ben.  He was one of our passengers when we drove from IU to Pa for a weekend break.
Also saw him at the reunions we were  able to attend.

He was a great guy and we enjoyed the times  we had together.

Through Reg Wood, I learned about Ben’s passing. I immediately thought of the two of you and of the wonderful friendship and life we shared while stationed at Hahn AB. You two were kind enough to visit me in the hospital when I gave birth to second son Roman. It was Palm Sunday weekend and you brought me a cute little Easter basket for Roman. Although my time in Germany ended over 37 years ago, the friendships I made have never left my heart or memory. Thank you and Ben for being part of those memories. I remember Ben as being a good man and no doubt, he’ll be deeply missed by those he left behind. You and your family have my deepest sympathy.

After meeting you I had the opportunity to meet your husband., Ben.  Such a gentle soul.  Sometimes Le and family you get worn out, just from living  this thing call life.  It comes and will come to us all one day.  To add a smile let me recall a song called "A Slow Train".  "The message is that it is a slow train that keeps moving on.  And that everybody gets a ticket."  Ben picked his ticket up and he had no choice but to get on the train.   The  train is life that moves slowly to the call of God .  Hopefully,  with the rewards that were promised so long ago. And that is why we know Joy comes in the morning.   Memories will someday put a smile on your face.    Always in prayer,  Junius

     Kay and I send our deepest sympathies to you and  your family.
We had the great fortune of knowing Ben from R-ll language school and Goodfellow AFB and then again at Fort Meade.  Once again we were able to renew our friendship at the R-ll reunions.  He was a dear friend and one of the  kindest most sincere people we have known.  He was an exceptional person.  There will be a very big void at our 2020 reunion, greatly missing his laughter and companionship. May God bless you and your son at this time and provide you with the glorious memories that Ben provided.


I think of how whenever anything or whatever was needed, we could count on Butch to be there.   “Just tell me when and where” he would say.  What a great friend, and such a big heart!  He will certainly be missed. 

 Le and Family, please be assured that the Father of Tender Mercies, will provide the comfort you will need during this difficult time (2 Cor. 1:3)

You all were such neat people to get the privilege of knowing when we lived in Bellevue.  I remember Ben's hearty laugh, taking your dogs on walks and car rides and babysitting Derek.  You are in our hearts and have our deepest sympathy.
