Bernard Sanders, of Falls Church, VA died Dec 15 at the age of 89 after a brief illness. He was born in Linden NJ. He served his country as a cryptographer during WWII, stationed in Trinidad and Okinawa, and after his discharge from the Army, moved to Washington DC, where he met his wife of 51 years, the former Helen Talbott. He was a well-respected graphic designer and was particularly proud of being the only Washington designer to be included in the show “Color” at the NYC Whitney Museum. Upon retirement, he and Helen enjoyed many years of traveling the country in their Airstream, and after her death he became an active member of the Lincolnia Senior Center. Helen Sanders preceded him in death, along with his brothers Jacob and Stanley Sanders. He is survived by his daughter Susan Sanders, his sister Bella Guggenheim, sisters-in-law Frances Sanders and Virginia Rigney, nieces, nephews and many friends. A memorial gathering will be held at Demaine Funeral Home, 5308 Backlick Rd. Springfield on Tuesday, January 31st. At 11:00AM, with a Memorial service to follow at 12:00PM. Interment with honors will follow at Quantico National Cemetery.
