

Dane was born in Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, DC on June 7, 1984. He graduated from Mountain View High School in Centreville, Virginia. Among his many skills he excelled as a journeyman in HVAC and plumbing in Wilmington, North Carolina before returning to Fairfax.
Dane had a sincere appreciation of horticulture including photography of flowers and other plant species. He loved his vacation time with family each summer in Emerald Isle, North Carolina. He was passionate about contributing his efforts toward environment conservation. His love of music crossed all genres, and he possessed a special skill in woodworking. He was a Washington Redskins football fan.
Dane is preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Lillie Brittingham of Laurel, Delaware and Lucille and Warren Shoup of Strasburg, Virginia.
Dane is survived by his parents, Larry and Linda Brittingham of Fairfax, Virginia, his sister Carmela Brittingham (Joe Baldwin) of Sterling, Virginia, his aunts Judie Johnson of New Bern, North Carolina, Jean Layton of Milford, Delaware, Patricia Mullins of Strasburg, Virginia, numerous cousins, and his loving dog Skrillex Brittingham.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 2, 2022, at Demaine Funeral Home, 5308 Backlick Road, Springfield, VA, 22151. A reception will follow at the funeral home from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Family and friends are invited to attend the services and reception.
Dane’s family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to the Trauma ICU team at Fairfax Hospital for taking such wonderful care of him. We also wish to thank our family and friends who have been so supportive during this difficult time.
Dane, rest in peace. We will always love you and you will forever be in our hearts.
