Darrel L Droel

Darrel L. Droel, loving and devoted husband of Johanna Kendall Dietz Droel passed away on Friday, July 7, 2023 of complications from Multiple Sclerosis and a stroke. He was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota on March 18, 1943.

Upon graduation from high school, Darrel attended Dunwoody College of Technology in Minneapolis. Darrel was self-employed for many years in the commercial caulking business. He was also very active in the AKC showing dogs and participating in competitions as a breeder and trainer. When he retired from that life, he adopted his beloved canine, Joey, who was his comfort and joy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James LeRoy Droel and Edith Esther Parson Droel. Darrel is survived by his stepmother, Betty Weiland Droel; brother Rodger Droel (Claudia) ; his three sons, Joe Droel (Dawn), Tim Droel (Heather), Ed Droel, and his daughter Jackie McKenzie (James); two stepsons, Brad and Matthew Dietz; nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Darrel will be truly missed by so many friends, church family, neighbors and former clients. Darrel’s love for the Lord and his unwavering faith is an inspiration and loving memory to his friends and family. To all who knew him it was his gentle spirit and kind nature that will be remembered.

There will be a graveside service on July 21, 2023 in Harrisonburg, Virginia at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens, N Valley Pike (Route 11) at 11:30am.
