

David Wayne Pearson, 84, of Springfield, VA, peacefully passed away on February 2, 2022, from complications brought on by a stroke. David, the youngest of four brothers, James, Maurice and Roger, was born on September 6, 1937, to Dorothy (Lekites) and Drew Pearson in Dover, Delaware. He was later sent to Massachusetts to be raised by his Uncle and Aunt, George and Sarah Shane Short. David graduated from Chelmsford High School class of ‘56 and subsequently followed in his brothers' footsteps by enlisting in the U.S. Marine Corps. He later went on to study civil engineering at Lowell Tech. In 1962, he married Mary Jane Brooks, his childhood sweetheart, and relocated to Springfield, Virginia working as an engineer for Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) in Arlington, Virginia for over 30 years.
Always ready with an easy laugh and witty, good-natured remark, David guided his family and a few friends through life’s challenges. His knowledge and experience live on in his children who grew up on stories of post-war growth in a Nation going nowhere but up. He was known, by his family, too often arrive home with Fannie May chocolates or candies to share after a long day at work. He was fond of such classics as Snow White, Pinocchio, James Bond and the Three Stooges. His car of choice, a Lincoln Towncar of which he owned several over the years. He was very deeply loved and lived a good life.
David was predeceased by his daughter, Jennifer Lynne Pearson. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary Jane Pearson, their children, Sarah S. Pearson and her husband, Nathan Baker, David W. Pearson Jr. and his wife, Christine Pearson, and Kathleen C. Jenkins and her husband, Paul Jenkins along with two grandchildren, Brennen and Kylan Jenkins. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Barbara Lawrence and her son, Matthew (Beau) Lawrence.
A gathering for family and friends will be held at Demaine Funeral Home in Springfield, VA on Thursday, February 17, 2022 from 3-5 pm.
