Denise Marie Hains (Petros) was born in Washington, D.C. on February 28, 1951 to Marie Petros and Edward S Petros. Denise preceded in death her loving husband Bernie Hains, her daughters Michelle Hains, Karen Huff (Tim), Renee Motes (Kyle) her granddaughter Raegan Motes, brother Sam Petros (Donna), sister Pixie Monroe, countless in-laws and nieces & nephews.
Denise grew up in Annandale, VA and went to college at VCU where she met Bernie and started her greatest adventure of motherhood and family with him. Denise and Bernie moved all over the country with their family, calling VA, NC, TX, and GA home before returning to the Alexandria, VA area.
Denise spent much of her career fulfilling her calling to her strong faith. She spent years working in various Catholic Churches and graduated summa cum laude from Loyola University with a Masters in Pastoral Ministries. She then felt called to ministry as a chaplain for Hospice in the Atlanta Area.
Denise’s adventurous spirit touched many lives through her love and antics. She could find fun and joy in any situation making mundane tasks games or gifting silly packages to bring joy to someone else. Her generous heart embraced all within her sphere.
Denise always embraced the lessons of Christ through giving. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to St. Jude Children’s Hospital in Memphis, TN.
