He is survived by children Ginny, Don and Chuck Giles, four grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
He was a vibrant personality who embraced life with integrity, honesty, and a loving, compassionate heart that touched everyone he met. He will be missed for all the contributions he made to the lives of those who knew and loved him.
A memorial service will be held at 1 pm on January 21, 2017 at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Alexandria, VA. Interment will immediately follow the service. Family will greet friends before the service at St. Luke's fellowship hall at 11:30 am. Reception will follow the service at Greenspring Village from 3 pm.
