Demaine Funeral Home

Dora died peacefully on Sunday, October 11, 2020. She was blessed with a long and loving life. We will miss her beyond what words can express. Dora was born on April 25, 1918 in Lowell, Massachusetts, grew up, attended school, married, and raised a family in Lowell, and nearby Dracut, Massachusetts. She was married to Paul S. Rousseau (deceased). Paul was an accomplished pianist and organist and was a member of several popular New England bands, but his profession was the banking industry. Following several career moves and 8 years of service with the Commissioner of Banks in the State Capital, Paul joined the management staff of the Central Savings Bank (later MASS Bank), and served as President until his retirement. During this time, Dora participated in many community activities and contributed over a decade of volunteer service to Saint Joseph’s Hospital, Lowell, MA. Dora is survived by her two children, M. Elaine Rock of Davis, CA, and Kenneth in Annandale, VA. Elaine’s husband, Peter A. Rock PhD (deceased), was the Dean of Engineering and Sciences at the Davis campus of the University of California. Kenneth is a retired Air Force officer whose career included assignments with Headquarters United States Air Force and the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense in the Pentagon. Kenneth is married to Mary Catherine Sheehan. Dora took great pride in her 5 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren and thoroughly enjoyed her frequent cross-country (California and Colorado) family visits. Dora traveled abroad and fondly recalled the annual golf vacations she and her husband made to Florida and Bermuda. An avid golfer, one of Dora’s favorite remembrances was the companionship and competition offered at her home course, Vesper Country Club, Tyngsboro, MA. In retirement, Dora turned her attention to creative interests including decorative flower arrangements, knitting, and sewing. One of her specialties was quilting, a passion she shared with her daughter.
