Ernest Edward Harris Jr.

Ernie was born in Salisbury, NC to Ernest Edward Harris and Evelyn Marie Arthurs on October 25, 1942.

Ernie attended Hastings High School in Hastings-on-Hudson, NY. He graduated from Columbia University earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics and from New York University Graduate School of Business, earning an MBA.

Ernie married Mary Ellen Clements 52 years ago on August 12, 1972.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1966-1968 then worked in packaged goods marketing until he moved to Washington D.C. to work at American Security Bank. He then worked at the U.S. Postal Service for 32 years, most recently as an Industry Segment Representative (Marketing Specialist).

Ernie was a wonderful husband, father, son, brother & friend. He enjoyed spending time with his family, catching up with friends, gardening and reading.

Ernie is preceded in death by his parents, Ernest & Evelyn Harris.

Ernie is survived by his beloved wife Mary Ellen Harris, daughters Kathleen Harris (Charles Riddle), Kristin Harris (Sergio Confalone), son Ernie Harris III, and sister Rose Marie Luetters (Norman Luetters). Ernie is also survived by several treasured cousins and close friends.

Visitation will be on Thursday, May 22 from 9:30-11:30 a.m. at Demaine Funeral Home in Springfield, VA.

Following the visitation, burial will be at Quantico National Memorial Cemetery in Triangle, VA.
