

Gladys was born in Front Royal, VA to Kenneth Ray and Vivian Robinson Redmon on May 15, 1934. She went to school in Front Royal, VA. On March 20, 1953, she married Steve Yawornicky in Hagerstown, MD and they were together for 44 years until his passing. She worked as a retail clerk for JCPenney for 14 years. Over the years, she enjoyed square dancing, crocheting, crossword puzzles, sudoku, and travel, the beach in particular.
Gladys is preceded in death by her husband, Steve; brothers, Kenneth Ray and Nelson Redmon; sister, Susan Connor; stepmother, Lucille Redmon; and brothers-in-law, Ray Henry and Shelton Burke.
Gladys is survived by her children, Karen Harris (William), Kathy Cooper (Jerry), and Mark Yawornicky (Vicki); her sisters, Evelyn Henry and Nina Burke; her granddaughter, Chelsea Cooper Diaz (Ramses); great-grandson Steven Diaz; sister-in-law, Christine Redmon; brother-in-law, Austin Connor; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 5-7 pm, on Friday, February 16, 2024, at Demaine Funeral Home.
A second visitation will take place on Saturday, February 17, 2024, from 9:30-10:30 a.m., also at Demaine Funeral Home. After visitation, Funeral services will be held 10:30-11:30 a.m. with Pastor Todd Tennant of Yorkshire Freewill Baptist Church in Manassas, VA, officiating. Her burial will follow at Mount Comfort Cemetery in Alexandria, VA.
