John W Freeman

John Wyett Freeman passed away on August 19, 2024 in Springfield, Virginia at the age of 73. John was born on April 23, 1951 in Warwick, Rhode Island to Jack and Dorothy Freeman. He graduated from Pilgrim High School and went on to earn a BS and MBA in Accounting and Finance from the University of Rhode Island where he was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity.

John began his distinguished career as a corporate auditor at General Electric. He later served as CFO for several government contracting firms, earning a reputation for his financial expertise. Beyond his professional achievements, John was a real estate investor, with a passion for renovating and flipping properties.

He had a deep love for dogs, cherished his Boston sports teams, and was both an enthusiastic fan and player of both basketball and golf. John also took great pride in supporting his daughter’s swimming career, attending her meets and cheering her on every step of the way. Some of his happiest moments were spent vacationing with his daughter on Kiawah Island, South Carolina, where they created lasting memories together.

John is survived by his daughter, Lauren of San Diego, California and sister, Lorine Hutchens and brother-in-law Jim Hutchens as well as a niece Christina H. Giller all of Massachusetts.

A memorial service celebrating John’s life will be held later this year.
