
Jack was a Navy veteran of World War II. He retired as a Sales Representative from Southern Railway which later became Norfolk Southern after 35 years of service. He was a member of the National Defense Transportation Association (NDTA) and the Washington, DC Traffic Club and served as its president in 1987.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Patsy Jerrine Dallas Hamill also known as Jerri; son John F. Hamill, III; daughter Nita Robyn; brother Charles S. Hamill (Carolyn); and many loving in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Jack was a resident of Springfield, Virginia for over 50 years and was a member of the Springfield Golf and Country Club and Messiah Methodist Church.
Jack Hamill was born on June 12, 1927 in Lynchburg, Virginia. His father, Mr. John F. Hamill, Sr. worked for
AT&T. His mother, Mary Seabolt was a school teacher. He attended EC glass High School, Phillips Business School and Lynchburg College, in Lynchburg VA. He met his future wife, Jerri, in Lynchburg, VA where they attended school. Jack and Jerri celebrated 65 years of wedded bliss on September 4, 2013.
Mr. Hamill will be buried with military honors at the Fort Hill Memorial Park Cemetery in Lynchburg, VA on Saturday, September 28, 2013.
